Whitehill Christmas Fayre 2022

Get along to the Whitehill Christmas Fayre from 11am to 3pm tomorrow, 3rd December, for a lovely selection of delicious food, unique gifts, prizes to be won, fundraising and foodbank collection, at Whitehill Secondary School on Onslow Drive.

The below queries were submitted by Dennistoun Community Council to George Gillespie (Executive Director, Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, Glasgow City Council) on 7th November 2022, copied to all Dennistoun Ward and Calton Ward Councillors (Anthony Carroll, Allan Casey, Elaine McDougall, Greg Hepburn, Cecilia O’Lone, Linda Pike, and George Redmond).

Dennistoun Community Council (DCC) welcomes the principles and proposals of the GCC Connecting Communities Project and the Liveable Neighbourhood (LN) plan. DCC and its Community Councillors (CCllrs) have enthusiastically promoted and engaged with the project at all stages of consultation to date.

Meeting Minutes: 13th September 2022

Approved minutes of the Dennistoun Community Council ordinary meeting held on Tuesday 13th September are now available at dennistouncc.org.uk/minutes.

Liveable Neighbourhood Autumn 2022 Update

Introduction

Glasgow’s Liveable Neighbourhoods (LNs) are intended to transform streets into safer, more attractive spaces where everyday needs can be met locally. They are to be accessible and healthy places that allow people of all ages and abilities to play and socialise outdoors in their local area. They will prioritise people travelling actively and by public transport. They are focussed on supporting local businesses.

Dennistoun is in the first tranche of this programme of projects being introduced across Glasgow, blending the 20-minute neighbourhood concept with the place principle to respond to the current environmental, social, health and economic challenges the city faces.

A drop-in event has been organised for Thursday 13th October between 10:00am and 4:00pm at the Reidvale Centre, 13 Whitevale Street, G31 1QW.

17 Community Councillors Required

All 17 community councillor (CCllr) positions on Dennistoun Community Council (DCC) now require to be filled, as the current four year term ends in October.

Update: One week extension. Nominations to be received by Friday 7th October.

DCC strives to understand and express our shared community priorities in order to promote an inclusive neighbourhood and to engage positively in the delivery of local services, facilities, amenities, planning, and regeneration.
