Around 1 in 5 people need to re-register under the new system of Individual Electoral Registration, which has now replaced the old ‘head of household’ registration system.
The Register to Vote deadline for the forthcoming general election is Monday 20th April 2015 (midnight). You can register via www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, by calling 0141 287 4444, or by visiting the service desk at 45 John Street, Glasgow G1 1JE.
I applied on the 20th and have been accepted. Where should I come to vote?
If you have received your polling card it will tell you which polling station you are meant to go to. If you haven’t received yours, you can also find out where you are meant to go by calling the electoral registration officer at GCC on 0141 287 4444. The full list of polling stations in the area is available online at the following link: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=15333
The two main polling stations for Dennistoun are at Alexandra Parade primary school and St Denis’ primary school. If you head for your nearest, they’ll have a list of registered voters (no need for a polling card) and will be able to confirm whether you’re at the right one. If you’re not at the right one, they should be able to point you in the right direction (to the other one, or to one of the other three toward the edge of Dennistoun – at Wellpark community hall, Reidvale community hall, or Haghill primary school.
