Dennistoun Big Lunch 2014

On Saturday 31st May, from 1-3pm, Dennistoun Community Council will be hosting a Big Lunch in Dennistoun (in Dennistoun Village’s ‘Buffallo Bill Square’ at the corner of Whitehill Street and Finlay Drive).

The aim is to get Dennistoun residents to share lunch with their neighbours, in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. It will be a great excuse to meet the people who we share our slice of Glasgow with.

Since starting in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place across the country, and millions of people have enjoyed being a part of one!

Bring your own food, or try some that’s already been brought along:

Bake a cake, surprise us with sandwiches, bring homemade dip and crisps, decorate fairy cakes, create carrot batons, cook up some sausage rolls, whip up a few choc rice krispie cakes, add some nibbles, rustle up a wrap, bake some brownies, select your favourite sweet treats and savoury snacks… those are just a few of the possibilities!

For more suggestions see the Big Lunch list of ideas. For a taste of what to expect, check out the photos of our 2012 Dennistoun Big Lunch.

Supplying food is not required and you are very welcome to just come along and sample the delights on offer – we look forward to seeing you there.

DCC will provide some basics like rolls, salad, sauces, tea/coffee, scones, plates, cups, cutlery, but we rely on a few extra treats being contributed to make things more interesting.

The 2014 Dennistoun Big Lunch is being held as a partner event to the Duke Street Expo, also taking place on Saturday 31st May, as part of the East End Social schedule of events.
