Emergency – 999
For help in fire, police, and medical emergencies when one of the following cases apply:
- A person is in immediate danger of injury or their life is at risk – 999
- Suspicion that a crime is in progress – 999
- Another serious incident which needs immediate emergency service attendance – 999
If none of these cases apply, try one of the other numbers below.
Police – 101
101 is the new number to contact the police for anything less urgent than 999. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and replaces current police non-emergency numbers. The 101 non-emergency number makes it quicker and easier for you to contact the police when you don’t need an emergency response, for example to:
- speak to your local police officer;
- report a crime that’s already happened, such as a theft or damage to property;
- get crime prevention advice; or
- report any policing issues in your area.
