Summary
It is acknowledged that many people will wish to speak on this important subject. And every opportunity will be made to hear as many voices as possible throughout the duration of the meeting.
One of the main purposes of our special meeting in 2019, held in response to proposed cuts to Glasgow Life amenities, was to establish the strength of feeling within our community for the continued provision of much-valued and relied-upon leisure facilities in Dennistoun.
Circumstances have since moved on, particularly with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) being confirmed as present within the building. Much uncertainty remains, so it is important that we clearly establish as many specific details relating to the various factors affecting Whitehill Pool as possible before we discuss future plans.
The below agenda is therefore proposed, to begin at 7:00pm, after a screening of the video of various community voices speaking about the pool, which DCC recently published. Your patience is appreciated while we progress through the important early stages of this meeting prior to opening the discussion up to the attending public.
Agenda
- Welcome, and introduction to Dennistoun Community Council.
- The ‘story so far’: Whitehill Pool and the Save Whitehill Pool campaign, since the special DCC meeting held in January 2019.
- An opportunity for a Glasgow Life representative to briefly provide a status summary, and to confirm any known future plans.
- An opportunity for Cllr Casey to provide detail on his recent proposal for a ‘full rebuild’.
- An opportunity for Dennistoun’s other elected representatives to speak briefly in response to the above: Bailie Carroll, Cllr McDougall, and Ivan McKee MSP.
- Follow-up discussion, focusing on input from members of the public.
- Future steps: How will we proceed? Save Whitehill Pool as the main vehicle for representing the community? Monthly reports from Glasgow Life and/or elected representatives? The role of Glasgow City Council?
The chair may amend the above format, as required.
The meeting will not be streamed live online but we plan to record it and post a video for viewing soon afterwards, with minutes/notes from the meeting posted to our site also.
